1. How long does a course take?
Generally speaking a course takes 24 hours spread over 12 or 24 weeks. Exam preparation courses like for Dutch NT2 Staatsexamen progr.II or for English IELTS tests take 35 hours.
2. How much does a course cost?
A 24-hour course costs € 360,00 excluding the course book. A 35-hour Exam course (both Dutch and English) cost € 540,00 excluding the course book
Exceptions are: the Basic Dutch course for Au pairs €290,00. The Starterpack Dutch for Beginners course, the Dutch Digital Writing course and the Culture and Conversation Programme all cost €390,00 and are inclusive of all learning materials.
If you are a post-secondary school student or an au pair, then you will be eligible for the reduced rate: € 310,00 or €470,00 . Please indicate that you are a student or au pair when you enroll.
The Basic Dutch course for Au Pairs costs only € 290.
3. Does the price include all learning materials?
No, you would have to purchase the course book yourself, except for the Dutch Starterpack for Beginners course, the Basic Dutch course for Au pairs, the Digital writing course and the Culture and Conversation Programme. In these courses your course materials is inclusive of the course fee.
4. Do I get a Certificate?
At the end of the course you will get a Certificate of Attendance if you have attended at least 80% of the programme.
5. On which skill is the emphasis placed?
In all our courses, except for the exam courses, the emphasis placed is on verbal communication during the lesson. Writing can be part of the home work.
In the exam courses we also spend lesson time on writing. Listening exercises are an integral part of all lessons.
6. What is the group size?
The ideal / maximum group size is 8 for day groups, and between 8 to 10 students for evening groups. For au pair groups we take 10-12 students.
7. What is the minimum number of students that is needed for a course to be held?
When we have 4 students, a course can be run. When there are just 3 students a course of fewer hours will be offered (please check our Terms and Conditions). The students will be consulted about this.
8. Can I reach the school by Public Transport?
Tram 9 stops in front of our school. We are 3 stops away from Central Station. The stop is called "Laan Copes van Cattenburgh". Bus 13 and 22 stop close by.
9. What is the target group for Kickstart courses?
Our students vary per course but generally we cater to professionals, people in higher education, house wives, students and au pairs.
10. Can I visit the school to have an exploratory talk or an intake?
Yes, you can call us for an appointment which is free of charge.
11. Is there a student/ au pair reduction?
Yes, please look at nr. 2.
12. How does "Try before you buy" work?
After the first lesson, you can still decide to withdraw from the course. You will only need to pay the €15 administration costs and return the books in good condition. The course fees will be transferred to your bank account within 1 week. In case the course was too easy and you would like to follow a Kickstart course at a higher level, please notify your teacher or the Administrator.
13. What do I need to bring?
You only need to bring a notebook and a pen.
14. Do you have holiday courses?
No, unfortunately we do not have any courses during the holidays.
15. Do you have courses for children?
No, unfortunately we do not have any regular courses for children. Private tuition can certainly be discussed.
16. Beside group courses, do you also offer private tuition?
Yes, we offer private standard as well as private tailor-made courses. These courses can be given at your office or home, or at our school. In case your home is outside of The Hague, travelling costs may apply. Please enquire for the rate.
